Course Overview

IBDP Physics provides students the opportunity to become enquirers into the principles of the natural world. The course is developed to provide an in-depth understanding of the basic physical principles and their application to various theoretical problems and practical situations. Two major emphases within the course are problem-solving and scientific inquiry, which will help students effectively analyse and interpret physical phenomena.

Course Curriculum

The International Baccalaureate (IB) offers two levels of Physics:

  • Standard Level (SL)
  • Higher Level (HL)

The SL course introduces the nature of physics and the associated skills to the student. In the HL course, students enhance their knowledge and understanding of the subject, providing a firm basis for further study at the university level. Recommended teaching hours for SL are 110 hours, and for HL, 150 hours.

Objectives of the Diploma Programme Physics Course

  • Develop In-Depth Understanding: It provides an in-depth understanding of some of the central concepts of Physics, including mechanics, electromagnetism, waves, and quantum physics.
  • Develop Practical Skills: This develops skills in planning, analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating data, and in applying theoretical concepts to real-life situations.
  • Critical Thinking: Support the analysis and evaluation of theories and models of physics by various approaches, including inquiry.
  • Prepare learners for assessment: Allow them some practice in various assessment questions and engage them in test papers to get ready for exams.

Our Team

  • Experienced Teachers: We have a team of highly experienced and industrious teachers who are committed to the success of the students.
